Our Journey: From Childhood Rock Hounding to Legacy

Legacy Crystals and Minerals didn’t begin as a business—it began as a lifelong passion. For over 35 years, I’ve been a collector, starting as a child fascinated by rock hounding and the treasures hidden in the earth. What started as a personal love for finding unique specimens evolved into a vision: making museum-quality minerals, rare finds, and beautiful polished crystals available to everyone.

Launching Legacy was also about family. Building this business with my kids—who share my excitement for crystals—turns it into more than a shop. It’s a chance to teach them, involve them in sourcing and buying, and build something lasting together.

The Evolution of Legacy Crystals and Minerals

At the beginning, Legacy focused on museum-grade collector specimens, including fluorite—a personal favorite. Our early listings featured rare pieces like YGX fluorite, which still holds a special place in my collection.

As the community grew, customers asked for polished pieces, spheres, and carvings—and we expanded. Today, we carry everything from high-end collector minerals sourced from closed or scarce mines to polished crystals, carvings, and jewelry that make crystals more accessible.

We’ve shipped pieces to collectors across Canada, the U.S., and Europe—sometimes reluctantly parting with specimens we’d have loved to keep. That’s the joy: seeing minerals find new homes where they’ll be appreciated.
