Geological Overview

These Hotei (Laughing Buddha) totems are expertly carved from a diverse selection of silicate-based minerals, primarily from the Quartz family and the Chalcedony subgroup. The collection features a variety of formation environments:

  • Jaspers & Agates: Sedimentary and volcanic precipitates of silica (SiO2) with varying mineral inclusions that create their signature opacity and patterns.
  • Mahogany Obsidian: A natural volcanic glass formed through the rapid cooling of felsic lava. Its distinct reddish-brown streaks are caused by inclusions of Hematite (Fe2O3) or Magnetite.
  • Ruby in Zoisite (Anyolite): A metamorphic combination consisting of green Zoisite (Ca2Al3(SiO4)3(OH)) and opaque red Corundum (Ruby) crystals.
  • Amethyst & Rose Quartz: Macrocrystalline varieties of quartz, colored by irradiation or trace elements like iron or titanium/manganese.

Aesthetic Appeal

Each totem is finished with a high-gloss polish that accentuates the unique "natural fingerprint" of the stone. From the translucent, ethereal lilac of the Amethyst to the deep, grounding opacity of Black Obsidian, these carvings offer a rich tactile experience. The Hotei form is rendered with soft, rounded contours, highlighting the iconic symbol of contentment and abundance.

Metaphysical Properties

The Laughing Buddha is a universal symbol of happiness, prosperity, and the "enlightened" state of joy. While each stone carries its own specific frequency—such as the heart-centred peace of Rose Quartz or the protective grounding of Obsidian—the collective energy of these totems is one of positive manifestation and spiritual lightness.

Rarity & Collectibility

While the minerals themselves are classic staples, these high-quality carvings are selected for their colour saturation and structural integrity. The Ruby in Zoisite specimens, in particular, show a desirable contrast that is highly sought after for themed mineral displays and pocket-stone collections.

Collector’s & Display Notes

Due to their uniform 3 cm height, these totems are perfect for grid work, office desk "worry stones," or travel altars. We recommend placing the translucent specimens, such as the Amethyst or Rose Quartz, near a natural light source to better appreciate the internal veils and natural inclusions.

Condition & Authenticity

All specimens are all-natural and have not been dyed or chemically treated. As hand-carved items, minor variations in facial features and slight surface irregularities are consistent with the artisan extraction and carving process, ensuring no two pieces are identical.
