Geological Overview
Sodalite is a tectosilicate mineral belonging to the feldspathoid group, represented by the chemical formula Na8(Al6Si6O24)Cl2. It typically forms in massive habits within silica-poor igneous rocks such as nepheline syenites. Its distinctive, rich royal blue colouration is often interspersed with white veining or mottling, which is typically co-occurring calcite, along with minor dark inclusions of other associated minerals.
Aesthetic Appeal
This offering features natural opaque Sodalite shaped into faceted 8mm (0.31 in) spherical beads. The faceted cut introduces a highly refined geometric texture to the stone. As light hits the angled surfaces, it highlights the striking contrast between the deep, denim-to-royal blue matrix and the natural white calcite inclusions. The result is a bold, visually textured aesthetic with a sophisticated lapidary finish.
Metaphysical Properties
In metaphysical practices, Sodalite is deeply associated with both the Throat and Third Eye Chakras. It is widely regarded as a stone of logic, truth, and inner peace. It is traditionally utilized to calm the mind, encourage rational thought, and facilitate clear, objective, and honest communication.
Rarity & Collectibility
While massive Sodalite is geologically accessible and widely collected, the faceted bead format offers a premium, wearable presentation of a classic mineral. It serves as an elegant staple for collectors who appreciate deep blue minerals, classifying it as a highly attractive decorative-grade accessory.
Collector’s & Display Notes
Sodalite rates between 5.5 and 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it slightly softer than quartz. Because of this, the sharp edges of the faceted cuts can be susceptible to micro-chipping or scratching upon heavy impact. To preserve the surface polish and the integrity of the elastic stretch cord, avoid exposing the bracelet to harsh cleaning chemicals, excessive moisture, or sudden physical shocks.
Condition & Authenticity
These are all-natural, polished and faceted Sodalite beads. Minor surface variations or slight textural differences along the facet edges are normal and consistent with the varying hardness between the Sodalite matrix and the natural calcite inclusions.
