Geological Overview

The Luna Collection features masterfully fashioned 3-inch feline carvings, each representing a distinct chapter of Earth's geological history. This collection spans several mineral classes, primarily within the Silicate and Carbonate families:

  • The Quartz Group (SiO2): Includes Rose Quartz (colored by dumortierite inclusions), Green Aventurine (displaying "aventurescence" from Fuchsite mica), Strawberry Quartz (featuring hematite "seeds"), and Black Obsidian (an amorphous volcanic glass).
  • The Jaspers & Agates: Varieties of microcrystalline quartz including Red-Veined Jasper and Red Jasper, showcasing iron-rich brecciation, and Grey Banded Agate, displaying rhythmic chalcedony layering.
  • The Carbonates (CaCO3): High-clarity Orange Calcite and White Calcite, formed through sedimentary precipitation and noted for their rhombohedral structure.
  • Specialty Silicates: Labradorite ((Na,Ca)(Si,Al)4O8), a feldspar famous for its "labradorescence"; Ruby Zoisite, a metamorphic combination of green zoisite and red corundum; and Yooperlite, a syenite rock containing fluorescent Sodalite (Na8(Al6Si6O24)Cl2).
  • The Jades: Including White Jade, Green Jade (Nephrite), and Lushan Jade, prized for their extreme toughness and interlocking fibrous structure.
  • Opalite (Manmade): A curated addition of opalescent glass, included for its unique optical properties and ethereal, luminous glow.

Aesthetic Appeal

Each "Luna" cat is polished to a vitreous, high-luster finish that highlights the unique character of the specific mineral. The Labradorite specimens offer flashes of peacock blue and gold, while the Ruby Zoisite provides a striking contrast of magenta and forest green. The Yooperlite cats maintain a subtle, mottled grey appearance in daylight but erupt into "lava-like" orange spots under 365nm UV light. The Strawberry Quartz and Red-Veined Jasper provide rich, organic textures, while the Calcites and Rose Quartz offer a soft, translucent glow. Every piece is crowned with a precision-inlaid gilded crescent moon, adding a touch of celestial elegance to the hand-carved features.

Metaphysical Properties

  • Rose Quartz & Strawberry Quartz: Stones of the heart; Rose Quartz promotes unconditional love, while Strawberry Quartz focuses on inner balance and purpose.
  • Green Aventurine & Green Jade: Associated with prosperity and longevity. Jade represents purity and wisdom, whereas Aventurine is often called the "Stone of Opportunity."
  • Labradorite & Black Obsidian: Protective stones. Labradorite awakens intuition and magic; Obsidian acts as a powerful psychic shield for grounding and protection.
  • Red Jasper & Garnet: Root Chakra stones that stimulate vitality, physical strength, and endurance.
  • Orange & White Calcite: Orange Calcite sparks creativity and confidence; White Calcite is used for mental clarity and spiritual amplification.
  • Yooperlite: A stone of truth, used to reveal hidden emotions and clear the "shadow" self.

Rarity & Collectibility

While several of these minerals are foundational to any collection, finding 3-inch specimens with this level of colour saturation and precision carving is rare. These pieces are graded AA (Premium Collector Grade) for their structural integrity and the crispness of their thematic details. The unique veining in the Red-Veined Jasper and the specific mineral inclusions in the Strawberry Quartz ensure that no two carvings are ever identical, making them highly desirable for those seeking one-of-a-kind mineral art.

Collector’s & Display Notes

Standing at approximately 3 inches (7.62 cm), these carvings have a significant shelf presence and a substantial, weighted feel in the hand. They are ideal for altar displays, tiered mineral cabinets, or as a sophisticated accent on a desk. To maintain their lustre, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight (especially for the Rose Quartz) and clean simply with a soft, dry cloth. To reveal the fluorescent properties of the Yooperlite, a 365nm UV light source is recommended.

Condition & Authenticity

Each piece (with the exception of Opalite, which is manmade) is guaranteed all-natural and untreated. We maintain total transparency: the Vein Jasper and Grey Banded Agate feature natural surface textures consistent with their geological formation. All carvings are inspected for structural integrity and are free of repairs or stabilization.
