Geological Overview

Black Tourmaline, scientifically classified as Schorl, is a complex aluminum borosilicate mineral represented by the chemical formula NaFe3Al6(BO3)3Si6O18(OH)4. It is the most abundant species of the Tourmaline group, forming primarily in igneous and metamorphic rocks like granite pegmatites. Schorl is heavily iron-rich, which gives it its deep, opaque black colour. A fascinating geological trait of all tourmaline is that it is both pyroelectric and piezoelectric, meaning the stone can generate a weak electrical charge when heated or subjected to physical pressure.

Aesthetic Appeal

This offering features natural Black Tourmaline shaped into striking geometric prism beads. This specialized, elongated lapidary cut creates a modern, architectural aesthetic that reflects ambient light across its flat facets. The stones boast an exceptionally high polish, giving the deep black matrix a near-metallic, silvery lustre that elevates the piece beyond a standard beaded bracelet.

Metaphysical Properties

In metaphysical practices, Black Tourmaline is deeply associated with the Root Chakra. It is universally regarded as the premier stone of energetic protection and grounding. Practitioners utilize its dense, stabilizing frequency to absorb and deflect negative energy, create an energetic shield around the user, and anchor the physical body securely to the earth.

Rarity & Collectibility

While Schorl is globally abundant, it is most commonly found in standard smooth spheres or raw chunks. The geometric prism cut offers collectors a highly accessible, contemporary presentation that maximizes the reflective surface area and sleek aesthetic of this powerful protective mineral.

Collector’s & Display Notes

Tourmaline rates a solid 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, making these polished facets highly durable and resistant to dulling during daily wear. To preserve the high-gloss surface polish and the integrity of the elastic stretch cord, strictly avoid exposing the bracelet to harsh cleaning chemicals, prolonged moisture, or sudden physical impacts.

Condition & Authenticity

These are all-natural, polished Black Tourmaline (Schorl) beads. Minor surface textural variations or microscopic pitting are completely normal and guarantee the natural, untreated formation of the underlying rock.
