Overview
Blue Aragonite is a naturally occurring calcium carbonate mineral (CaCO₃) that forms in the orthorhombic system. Its blue hue develops from trace amounts of copper or other transition metals during crystallization in low-temperature hydrothermal or sedimentary environments. The result is a soothing mineral with fibrous, layered textures and pastel coloration.
Composition: CaCO₃ — Calcium Carbonate (Aragonite)
Formation: Hydrothermal Veins and Sedimentary Cavities
Structure: Orthorhombic (Aragonite Group)
Mineral Note: Blue Aragonite is sometimes confused with Caribbean Calcite; however, it is a single mineral species, not a calcite–aragonite combination.
Metaphysical Notes
Blue Aragonite is associated with emotional balance and communication. It’s believed to promote calm expression, soothe stress, and encourage empathy — resonating strongly with the Throat and Heart chakras.
Why You'll Love It
- Beautiful ocean-blue tones with natural swirls
- High-grade polish enhances color and texture
- Organic patterns with subtle vugs and natural banding
- Authentic, untreated mineral — no dye or enhancement
Trade Name Note: “Blue Aragonite” is the accepted trade name for the naturally blue variety of aragonite. It is sometimes misidentified as “Caribbean Calcite,” but Blue Aragonite is a distinct and pure mineral species.
