Geological Overview
Commercially traded as "Blue Point Stone" or "Blue Spot Stone," this striking material is geologically identified as Dumortierite Quartz. It forms when massive Quartz (SiO2) crystallizes alongside Dumortierite, a complex aluminum borosilicate mineral represented by the chemical formula Al7BO3(SiO4)3O3. Dumortierite inclusions create vivid, denim-like blue patches suspended within the lighter quartz matrix, resulting in a beautiful, mottled appearance that is highly durable for lapidary work.
Aesthetic Appeal
This offering features natural Dumortierite Quartz shaped into 8mm (0.31 in) faceted beads. The geometric faceting elevates the presentation, catching ambient light to highlight the contrast between the opaque blue inclusions and the semi-translucent grey and milky-white quartz. Each bead displays a unique, earthy palette ranging from soft powder blue to deep, saturated navy, punctuated by natural mineral spotting.
Metaphysical Properties
In metaphysical practices, Dumortierite Quartz is deeply associated with the Throat and Third Eye Chakras. Often called the "Stone of Patience," it is widely regarded as a powerful tool for enhancing intellectual clarity, focus, and open communication. Practitioners utilize its stabilizing, disciplined energetic frequency to calm emotional reactivity and encourage logical, articulate expression.
Rarity & Collectibility
While standard Quartz is globally abundant, material featuring distinct, highly saturated Dumortierite inclusions that produce a contrasting blue-on-white aesthetic is highly sought after by collectors and jewelry designers. The faceted lapidary cut offers a highly accessible, premium presentation of this fascinating bi-mineral composite.
Collector’s & Display Notes
Because the host rock is primarily Quartz, this material rates a solid 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. This makes the faceted edges highly durable and resistant to dulling during daily wear. To preserve the surface polish and the integrity of the elastic stretch cord, strictly avoid exposing the bracelet to harsh cleaning chemicals, prolonged moisture, or sudden physical impacts.
Condition & Authenticity
These are all-natural, undyed, and polished Dumortierite Quartz beads. The uneven distribution of blue spotting and minor surface textural variations where the different minerals meet are completely normal and guarantee the natural, untreated formation of the underlying rock.
