Blue Tiger Eye Heart – The Stone of Vision

Mysterious, dark, and deeply reflective. Blue Tiger Eye (often called Hawk's Eye) is the soothing, cooling counterpart to the classic golden variety. At first glance, these hearts appear to be a solid charcoal or midnight black. However, when caught by the light, they reveal flashes of deep navy blue and shimmering silky bands (chatoyancy).

Geological Overview

Blue Tiger Eye is a fibrous quartz. It is actually an earlier phase of Tiger Eye formation (before the iron oxidizes to turn the stone gold). The blue color comes from the presence of Crocidolite fibers encased in quartz. The signature "shimmer" is a phenomenon called chatoyancy, where light reflects off these internal fibers like a cat's eye.

While Golden Tiger Eye is about action, Blue Tiger Eye is about vision. It is associated with the Third Eye and Throat Chakras. It is widely used to calm an overactive mind, reduce anxiety (it is a favorite stone for fearful flyers), and help the holder see situations from a higher, clearer perspective.

Lighting Matter: To truly appreciate this stone, display it in a well-lit area. Under weak indoor lighting, it remains dark and protective; in sunlight, the blue bands come alive.
