Geological Overview
Chrysocolla is a hydrous copper silicate mineral with the chemical formula (Cu,Al)2H2Si2O5(OH)4·nH2O. It forms in the oxidation zones of copper ore bodies. These 8mm beads are a premium "Gem Silica" variety from Peru, where the Chrysocolla has been naturally infused with Quartz (SiO2). This geological partnership results in a stone that retains the vivid cyan-blue of copper while gaining the vitreous luster and Mohs hardness of quartz.
Aesthetic Appeal
The visual landscape of this bracelet is reminiscent of an aerial view of tropical islands. The vibrant turquoise and malachite-green plumes of the Chrysocolla are suspended within a translucent, cloudy quartz matrix. Each 8mm bead is a unique "vug" of colour, polished to a high-gloss finish that highlights the natural "drusy" textures and dark dendritic inclusions that prove its authentic, untreated origin.
Metaphysical Properties
Chrysocolla is known as the "Stone of Communication" and is deeply tied to the Throat and Heart Chakras. It is believed to empower the feminine energy and help one speak their truth with loving-kindness. The addition of the Quartz matrix is said to amplify these calming vibrations, making it a favoured tool for teachers, artists, and those seeking to alleviate high-stress emotional states.
Rarity & Collectibility
While common Chrysocolla is often too soft for bead-making, this silica-rich variety is highly collectible for its durability and colour saturation. These beads are graded AA (Premium Collector Grade) for their high percentage of vivid blue-green "blooms" and the exceptional clarity of the surrounding quartz matrix. It represents a significant step up in quality from the opaque, earthy Chrysocolla often found in commercial markets.
Collector’s & Display Notes
Thanks to the quartz infusion, this bracelet has a Mohs hardness of approximately 6 to 7, making it much more resilient than pure Chrysocolla. However, it should still be protected from acids and harsh household chemicals. To truly appreciate the depth of the mineral inclusions, display it on a light-colored wood surface or under bright, natural daylight.
