Geological Overview
Labradorite is a striking macroscopic plagioclase feldspar within the anorthosite group, crystallizing in the triclinic system. This material is geologically defined by its pronounced labradorescence—a specialized optical phenomenon (schiller) created by light diffracting through tightly stacked, alternating lamellar layers of albite and other feldspar minerals within the stone's internal structure.
Aesthetic Appeal
This intuitive selection features precisely calibrated 10 mm (0.39") spheres polished to a high vitreous lustre. Against a natural smoky-grey to dark charcoal base matrix, the beads exhibit an intense, sweeping chatoyancy, flashing brilliant metallic blues and rich golds as the angle of light shifts. We have graded this lot as AA (Premium Collector Grade) for its uniform saturation and excellent lapidary finish.
Metaphysical Properties
Energetically, Labradorite is revered as a stone of transformation and shielding. Metaphysical practitioners utilize its high-vibrational energy to protect the aura from external energetic drains while simultaneously stimulating the Throat and Third Eye chakras to enhance clarity, intuition, and personal willpower.
Rarity & Collectibility
While commercial-grade Labradorite is widely available, securing premium material with dense, consistent labradorescence across a calibrated 25 g (0.88 oz) wearable lot is difficult. Its combination of natural structural integrity and highly reactive flash makes these pieces a highly desirable acquisition for serious collectors of wearable minerals.
Collector’s & Display Notes
To fully maximize the visual impact of the internal lamellar twinning, these pieces must interact dynamically with light. They are best displayed on a clean acrylic or natural wood stand under raking LED spotlights, or worn where natural sunlight can continuously activate the blue and gold schiller.
Condition Note: All-natural, with no repairs or stabilization. Minor natural internal fracturing is present, consistent with the extraction and polishing of authentic feldspar minerals.
