Lapis Lazuli is not a single mineral, but a metamorphic rock consisting primarily of deep blue Lazurite. These specimens exemplify the rock’s natural complexity. The deep indigo coloration is interrupted by clouds of white Calcite—the host rock—and glittering flecks of golden Pyrite (Iron Sulfide). This combination forms through contact metamorphism, creating a stone that resembles a starry night sky.

Standing approximately 3 inches tall, these points are cut to emphasize the vertical striations of the stone. The polish is smooth, allowing the pyrite inclusions to catch the light with a metallic flash.
