Overview

Polychrome Jasper is a silicate mineral composed primarily of microcrystalline quartz (SiO₂) and trace iron oxides, which give rise to its varied color palette. It forms through the slow silicification of volcanic ash and sedimentary material, often under hydrothermal conditions.

Found mainly in Madagascar, this jasper occurs in massive, dense formations within weathered volcanic tuff and rhyolite. Its layered colors record subtle shifts in mineral content and groundwater chemistry during formation.

Composition: SiO₂ (Silicon Dioxide) with Iron Oxides and Manganese
Formation: Silicified Volcanic Sediment and Hydrothermal Alteration

Metaphysical Notes

Polychrome Jasper is often regarded as a grounding and stabilizing stone, believed to foster patience, resilience, and a connection to the earth’s natural rhythms. Its layered tones symbolize strength through balance and transformation.
