This premium collection of bear carvings features some of the finest display-grade Fluorite sourced from renowned deposits in China. Crafted with a contemporary "toy-art" aesthetic, these pieces marry geological wonder with sophisticated design. Each bear is a unique study in mineral chemistry, featuring the "rainbow" colour zoning and rare "honey" tones that have made Chinese Fluorite a staple in elite collections.

Geological Overview

Fluorite ($CaF_2$) is a halide mineral celebrated for its "allochromatic" nature, appearing in a vast spectrum of colors due to elemental impurities and natural radiation during its hydrothermal formation.

  • Origin: These specimens are sourced from major Fluorite-producing regions in China, celebrated globally for high-clarity crystals and distinct, vibrant colour banding.
  • Formation: The rhythmic bands of purple, green, and yellow are "phantoms"—chronological growth records showing changes in the mineral's chemical environment over millions of years.
  • Honey Fluorite (E, D): This warm amber hue is a rarer variation caused by specific structural defects and trace elements within the crystal lattice.

Aesthetic Appeal

Every bear in this set is hand-polished to a mirror-like finish, enhancing the depth and translucency of the natural stone:

  • Specimen C: Features a deep, regal purple head that transitions into a misty, translucent green torso.
  • Specimen G: A striking bi-color piece with a vibrant mint-green head and a smoky-purple base.
  • Specimen H: Showcases complex, "mossy" internal textures with interlaced green and purple phantoms.
  • Specimen E: A premium Honey Fluorite with rich, amber saturation and visible horizontal growth planes.
  • Specimen F: A consistent, deep teal-green specimen with exceptional clarity and a serene, uniform profile.
  • Specimen D: A softer, buttery-yellow Honey Fluorite with a glowing, high-translucency core.

Metaphysical Properties

Fluorite is widely regarded as the "Genius Stone," symbolizing mental clarity and the organization of chaotic energies.

  • Honey Fluorite (E, D): Resonates with the Solar Plexus chakra, associated with intellectual confidence, creativity, and personal power.
  • Rainbow Varieties (C, G, H, F): These pieces are thought to bridge the Heart (green) and Third Eye (purple) chakras, aligning emotional intuition with spiritual focus.

Rarity & Collectibility

While green and purple Fluorite are more common, finding high-clarity rough material suitable for large, solid carvings requires significant selection. Specimens E and D (Yellow/Honey) are of particular interest to collectors due to the relative scarcity of saturated yellow material compared to other colorways. These pieces are graded A (Commercial-High Grade) for their superior polish and minimal surface-reaching fractures.

Collector’s & Display Notes

  • Lighting: These bears display best near a natural light source or on a backlit shelf to "activate" the internal phantoms.
  • Care: Fluorite has a Mohs hardness of 4; avoid harsh chemicals and store away from harder minerals like Quartz to prevent scratching.
  • Condition: All-natural mineral with no repairs. Minor internal "veils" or crazing are characteristic of natural Fluorite and do not impact structural integrity.
