A study in natural balance. Earthy stability meets the fire of Garnet.
Known in the trade as "Sesame Jade" for its unique spotted texture, this stone is geologically a Garnet-bearing Granodiorite. Unlike true soft jades, this is a durable, igneous stone formed deep within the Earth's crust. It captures a moment of geological history where cooling magma crystallized into a durable matrix of translucent grey Quartz and white Feldspar, speckled with black Biotite Mica and distinct red Almandine Garnet crystals.
This "salt and pepper" composition is entirely natural and untreated. The material is much harder and more durable than the soft marbles often sold under similar names, making it an enduring addition to any collection.
Aesthetic Appeal
These spheres feature a sophisticated, monochromatic palette warmed by earthy red undertones. The "Sesame" pattern—created by the black Biotite and Hornblende inclusions—offers a pleasing, organic symmetry that draws the eye without overwhelming a space. The distinct red Garnet inclusions add a pop of color and visual depth, breaking up the grey matrix. The polish is glass-like (vitreous), allowing you to see into the semi-translucent quartz layers of the stone.
Metaphysical Properties
Energetic Association: Nurturing, Grounding, Clarity.
"Sesame Jade" is often viewed as a stone of support and clearing. It combines the amplifying energy of Quartz, the grounding stability of Granite, and the revitalizing passion of Garnet. It is believed to help "clear the static" in one's environment, promoting a sense of calm capability. It is an excellent stone for offices or shared living spaces, as it encourages cooperation and reduces emotional stress.
Rarity & Collectibility
While Granodiorite is a common rock type, finding specimens with such evenly distributed Garnet inclusions and a polishable, fracture-free matrix is less common. This material is a staple in Asian stone appreciation but is often overlooked in Western collections, making these spheres a unique textural addition to a curated cabinet.

Collector's Note & Condition
Quality Grade: A (Commercial-High). These pieces are chosen for their balanced distribution of inclusions and high polish. As with all natural Granodiorites, minor surface textures where softer mica meets harder quartz are expected and serve as proof of natural authenticity.
At Legacy Crystals, we price based on a combination of rarity, aesthetic quality, and acquisition cost. These pieces offer an accessible entry point into collecting igneous rocks without compromising on the beauty or size of the specimen.
