Geological Overview

Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed when felsic lava cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. The "Silver Sheen" is caused by microscopic gas bubbles or mineral layers aligned within the glass, which reflect light back as a silvery chatoyancy.
