White Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral. It is the opaque-to-translucent variety of the famous "Iceland Spar" (Optical Calcite). While polished pieces lose the perfect optical clarity of raw rhombohedrons, they retain the mineral's ability to split light, often creating subtle internal rainbows or "veils" within the stone.
